No. There is no AI in Dilly. Everything your child sees was written in advance, and nothing your child types is sent to an AI service.

Then why companion?

Your child teaches their companion. The companion is a character in the app. Its words were written by the Dilly team. Your child learns how AI works by teaching it and testing what it learned.

No chatbot

Dilly has no chatbot, so there is nothing for your child to chat with. Your child taps prepared choices instead of typing.

Your child taps a prepared choice and presses Send. There is nothing to type.

Where your child writes

Missions have some writing steps. What your child writes is kept in the app and is not sent to an AI service. See What do children write in Dilly?

Why teach with a pretend companion?

The idea is that students should learn about AI, not just chat with it. They see why an AI gives a bad answer, then fix it.
