What does teaching feel like for my child?

Your child is the teacher and the companion is the learner. It wants to learn, makes a mistake, and gets better because of what your child chooses.

Your child is the teacher. The companion starts out not knowing, and it asks to learn.

The start

The companion says what it wants to learn in its own words. For example, "Something went wrong. I wonder how to find out why. Can you teach me?"

The middle

Your child asks something, and the companion tries. Sometimes the companion gets it wrong. That is the point. Your child notices, picks a rule, and watches the companion try again.

Your child taps a prepared choice and presses Send. There is nothing to type.

The companion changes its pose as it goes. It looks curious at first, and a little sheepish after a mistake.

The end

The last screen says something like "You trained Pebble to give hints, not answers!" Your child earns coins and a puzzle piece.

When a skill is earned for the first time the piece shows with a New piece tag. The coin number is an example.

What it is not

It is not a quiz. Your child never sees a score. The companion is a character, and everything it says was written in advance. See Is the companion alive or real?
