No. The companion is a character in the app, like a character in a book or a game.
There is no AI in Dilly. Everything your child sees was written in advance, and nothing your child types is sent to an AI service.
Then why companion?
The word is in quotes on purpose. The companion plays the part of a learner, so your child can see how learning from examples works. It is not a real AI. Your child learns how AI works by teaching a companion and testing what it learned.
What "learning" means here
When your child teaches a skill, the companion gets a new ability. That ability was prepared by the Dilly team. The choices your child makes decide which of the prepared things the companion does.
Feelings
The companion shows how it feels, such as sleepy when the battery is low. That is a picture and a few words. The companion does not really feel anything.
Who writes the words
The Dilly team. There is no chatbot to talk to.
