Your child sees the battery as a picture, a few words from the companion and a recharge line. They do not see how many units are left. They also do not see how much teaching a skill will use.
Why
A number turns the battery into something to count down and do sums with. Dilly would rather your child think about their companion. So the app shows how the companion feels: lots of energy, doing great, getting sleepy, low, or fast asleep.
Where grown-ups can see it
Open the Parent/Teacher area, tap Companion, then go to the second page, "Use so far." It shows a line such as "12 of 30 battery left," the plan and when the battery recharges.
The plans page, which has prices, is also behind the grown-up phone check. See The phone check.
