What uses the battery

Teaching your companion uses a little battery. Almost everything else in the app does not.

Only teaching your companion uses the battery. Everything else in the app is free to do.

The rule

Teaching uses a little battery each time your child taps Send to answer their companion. There has to be enough battery to start teaching a skill.

What costs nothing

  • Choosing an answer before tapping Send
  • A wrong choice that Dilly answers with "try again"
  • The Need help? button
  • Spotting, checking and saving steps
  • Going over something already taught, for practice
  • Missions, the Room, the Shop and building in the Workshop

If teaching stops partway

Dilly sets aside the battery that teaching a skill will need when it starts. If your child quits or does not finish, the battery that was not used goes back. Your child is never charged for answers they did not send.

If there is not enough

If there is not enough battery to start, teaching waits. Your child sees a calm screen instead. See When the battery is empty.
