The app does not speak. Dilly has no voice of its own.
Use your phone's Speak Screen
Your iPhone and iPad can read a screen out loud. Dilly's own tip, shown in the Parent/Teacher area for younger readers, is:
- Open Settings, then Accessibility, then Spoken Content.
- Turn on Speak Screen.
- In Dilly, swipe down with two fingers from the top of the screen.
The wording of these steps can differ a little between iOS versions.
Reading together
For kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade, Dilly also shows "Read this together with a grown-up." See Can my kindergartener use Dilly?
Sounds
Dilly has little sound effects when you tap and answer, and a happy sound when a mission is done. Those are not spoken words. See How do I turn off sounds?
