After you type a birthday, Dilly highlights a grade. The line under the title says, "We guessed 4th grade from the birthday. Tap a different one if that isn't right."
How the guess works
Dilly uses US school years. It looks at your child's age on September 1 of the school year that is running or about to start. A child who is 5 on that day is a kindergartener.
You are in charge
The highlighted grade is only a suggestion. Nothing is locked. Tap the grade that fits your child, even if it is not the guess.
A grade ahead or behind
If you pick a grade two or more away from the guess, Dilly shows a gentle line on the next screen asking a grown-up to take a quick look. It never blocks you.
No guess
If the birthday does not match a school grade, Dilly says, "Tap the grade that fits."
