The Workshop is the companion's home screen for teaching and building. Your child gets to it from the Companion tab.
What is on the page
- Keep training. If your child left something half taught, it is waiting here.
- Teach (name) something new. A shelf of puzzle pieces, one for each skill not learned yet. Tapping one starts teaching that skill.
- What (name) has learned. The pieces your child earned.
- Build with (name). The way into building.
Building
"Build with" has three ways in:
- Choose an artifact
- Start with a blank board
- My artifacts
On the board, your child puts earned pieces together. They fit in any order. When the pieces make something, the app says what your child can build. Things your child builds can be saved, played again, edited and copied from My artifacts.
What can be built today
Right now your child can build the Robot Repair Bench. It needs four pieces: Find what went wrong, Change one thing at a time, Learn from a failed test and Check the fix worked. Your child decides how much the companion leads.
The app also shows other things to build. Those are marked as previews, with the pieces they will need, so they never look like something the companion can already do.
