Pieces and abilities

Every skill your child teaches adds a puzzle piece and one new ability. The companion only does what your child taught it.

A new companion starts with no abilities at all. It can say hello, but it cannot do a skill until your child teaches it.

Each skill, one piece

When your child finishes teaching a skill, two things happen. The companion gets one new ability, and your child earns a puzzle piece for it. The ability stays. Nothing takes it away.

Each piece is one skill. The four dots fill as your child practices it again.

Where pieces live

In the Workshop, the pieces your child has not earned yet sit on a shelf called "Teach (name) something new." The pieces your child earned sit under "What (name) has learned." Tapping a learned piece shows what it lets the companion do, in a line like "Pip can find what went wrong."

The four dots

Each learned piece has four small dots. They fill as your child practices that skill again. The dots are not a grade. They only show that your child came back to it. See Practice again.

What pieces are for

Earned pieces fit together on the Workshop board to build something. Only pieces your child has earned will fit. See The Workshop.
